Journalism school honors Dr. Pamela Shoemaker with Stempel Award

ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 5, 2014)—A crowd of students, faculty members and guests gathered in the lobby of the Schoonover Center on Thursday, Jan. 30, to honor Ohio University alumna, Dr. Pamela Shoemaker, as she received the inaugural Guido H. Stempel III Award for Journalism and Mass Communication Research.­

“I’m astounded to be receiving this award and honored beyond anything I could say,” Shoemaker said at the ceremony. Shoemaker received both her Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Science degrees in journalism in 1972 from Ohio University. She is currently the John Ben Snow Professor at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Shoemaker is the first recipient of the Guido H. Stempel III Award.
